Finnish Environmental technology company Tana Oy (Ltd) has expanded its product range and is now offering smart service products. Tana’s new product, Smart Site, is a service concept that is based on intelligent technology, integrating physical machinery with networked sensors and software creating an industrial internet to the customer’s site. TANA Smart Site collects, analyses and presents the data produced by Tana Machines for customers, so that they can enhance their own business. Tana is a pioneer in its field in utilizing the industrial internet: the Smart Site creates a significant competitive advantage for Tana in comparison to other machinery companies. It is a fresh indication of how the industrial internet is able to improve business performance and competitiveness.
Tana produces machines and devices designed for mechanically managing solid waste. Its products include landfill compactors, shredders, chippers, and as a new release - drum screens. With TANA Smart Site the machinery merges into a coherent system, which increases the reliability of the working site, engages the personnel and helps to improve the customer’s business processes.
Based on the data that the machines collect, Smart Site clearly and concretely presents how much profit the customer gains, how much the expenses are and how the business could be enhanced even more. It is also possible to connect other manufacturers’ machines to the Smart Site. The machine contractor, waste management plant personnel or other authorized users can follow the working of the machines connected to the Smart Site remotely via the internet by phone, tablet or office computer for example.
TANA Smart Site isn’t just a tracking tool for monitoring the revenues and expenses, but it also offers the possibility for the customer to significantly improve their personnel’s engagement to the company and work. When workers at the site see the same information in real time, they have a better conception of the site’s productivity. Seeing the numbers and understanding the waypoints motivates them to work even more efficiently by being able to judge performance.
Tana’s product family grows with drum screen
Tana’s smart compactors, shredders and chippers get an addition to the product range with the smart drum screen. The drum screen is needed for extra refining of the recycling material, and it is used for recycling the soil materials, waste fractions and energy fractions.
The advantages of Tana’s drum screen compared to competing screens are versatile: among others the machine intelligence, the screen’s simple structure, a possibility to drive all of the conveyors of the screen separately as well as in both directions, a large screening area and a hydraulic system that senses the load. These functions are what make the drum screen an exceptionally efficient and functional machine.
The drum screen and an example of the ‘Smart Site’ technology will be on show at the RWM 2015, stand OA110 for anyone wanting to know more about either product.
