Thorworld becomes a sponsor for the British Materials Handling awards 2009

Leading loading and unloading solutions equipment provider Thorworld Industries Ltd has agreed to sponsor the Technical Innovation category at the British Materials Handling Awards 2009.

The Awards are being organised by Datateam Ltd, publishers of Factory Equipment – Materials Handling & Logistics magazine, in association with the British Materials Handling Federation (BMHF), and will bring together the entire materials handling industry in celebration of the companies, innovations and people that are achieving the highest standards and which, despite the current economic downturn, are still helping to drive this dynamic industry forward.

Designed to promote the best practice in key areas of manufacture and supply, including technical innovation, health & safety, energy saving, installation solutions, and professional achievements, the Award winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony to be held on the evening of 30th September 2009.

Thorworld is firmly established as a leading, one-stop, single source supplier to the loading bay and materials handling sectors, and is recognised as both a leader and innovator in the provision of quality engineered equipment.

BSI registered with ISO 9002 accreditation since 1992, as well as CE mark certification, it was one of the first companies in the industry to achieve the ISO 9001:2000 international quality management standard.

The company provides an extensive range of high quality loading & unloading equipment and loading bay accessories & safety aids, such as: mobile yard ramps, for purchase or hire through its specialist RentARamp operation; dock shelters & seals; dock levellers; modular loading docks; dock plates & boards; dock & vehicle bumpers and wheel chocks, as well as the Truckloada mobile yardlift and the Dockloada scissor lift platform.

In addition, he is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (FCILT), a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), a former President of the British Materials Handling Federation (BMHF) and past President of the Association of Loading & Elevating Equipment Manufacturers (ALEM).

Mr Meale said: “As a company with an established reputation for innovation, we understand its crucial importance and the vital role it can play in helping to maintain a position at the forefront of the industry. We are therefore proud and delighted to sponsor the Technical Innovation Of The Year category in this year's Awards.”

To be awarded for the most innovative materials handling product, system or service (new or redeveloped) introduced onto the market within the last 12 months, the principle criteria to be considered for Technical Innovation Of The Year will include: innovation, application, use and relevance of the product, together with evidence of success.
