Tip Top refrigerated trailer maintenance from TIP Trailer Services

TIP Trailer Services currently handles the maintenance of 1240 owned and non-owned refrigerated trailers, through its FleetCare contract maintenance programme, and the Uptime and Compliance levels within its reefer fleet are, at this present time, at their highest performance levels ever.

According to Karl Davies, services and marketing director at TIP Trailer Services, "As we run such a large fleet of refrigerated trailers, this means that we have to take a very strict and positive approach to overall trailer maintenance, to the extent that we believe our customers currently benefit from the highest levels of service maintenance for reefer trailers in the UK. Our refrigerated trailer fleet is in its peak maintenance period so the latest TIP performance figures are even more impressive."

Within its fleet, TIP operates 870 refrigerated trailers fitted with Carrier Transicold refrigeration systems and 370 with Thermoking based systems, with these trailers covering a mix of TIP rental and leasing customers, as well as non-owned FleetCare customers.

All the Carrier Transicold based trailers are on Carrier's 24/7 Golden Cold service contract scheme and the latest performance figures show 96% compliance on standard services completed. TIP's fleet of Carrier Transicold based trailers also has a fleet uptime running at an impressive 99% availability.

"In addition to unbeatable compliance and uptime, the attendance time to call outs for Carrier Transicold based trailers is averaging under 60 minutes, as opposed to the industry norm of 90 minutes, with a successful first-time fix of 87%," said Karl Davies.

Although TIP runs a smaller fleet of Thermoking based refrigerated trailers, similar service performance figures are applicable with servicing compliance running at 93%, through the Thermoking Total Kare programme.

"Throughout the life of any refrigerated trailer covered by our FleetCare programme, they are expertly maintained at all times and this pedigree of excellence ensures that their final resale value is maximised," added Karl Davies.

In the event of a reefer breakdown, customers utilise the proven TIP Roadside Assistance service, operated through an in house pan-European call centre, which in turn connects to either the Carrier Transicold or Thermoking service support team for immediate response for all refrigeration issues.

The high levels of service performance on the reefer trailers is complemented by the service management of the trailers themselves, with TIP having comprehensive service and warranty agreements with all trailer manufacturers included as part of the FleetCare programme. The programme also covers service provision for tail lifts as well as service cover for the increasingly popular double deck trailers in the TIP fleet, which are growing in numbers in the current economic climate.
