To meet the need for additional trailers for its 100 strong UK and European distribution fleet, Framptons Transport Services in Shepton Mallet has placed orders with TIP for 30 new trailers during 2009, with GE's TIP Trailer Services now being the preferred trailer supplier to the company.
Earlier this year, TIP supplied a total of 15 new trailers, including 10 SDC pillarless curtainsiders, as well as 5 SDC Euroliners, all with sliding roofs and load protection bars. In May and June, a further 9 SDC curtainsiders, each fitted with full rear taillifts, were added to the fleet for a specific contract renewal for an existing Framptons customer.
The trio of trailer orders with TIP was completed recently with TIP supplying a further 6 SDC pillarless curtainsider trailers to meet the increasing workload of the Framptons fleet.
According to Richard Fry, Director and General Manager at Framptons Transport Services, "Our relationship with TIP goes back many years and is based on a strong mutual understanding. When dealing with TIP, you deal with proven industry people who fully understand the nature of the UK haulage industry. The service we receive from TIP is second to none and suits our business needs."
All the trailers are to be based at the company's head office in Shepton Mallet in Somerset and will each be covering between 50,000 and 80,000kms per annum over a 5 year working life at Framptons.
"Over the years we have developed strong links with the team at Framptons and it is pleasing that, we are continuing to grow our business levels with them as they too develop their business levels in general," said Mike Furnival, Commercial Director, TIP Trailer Services.
