Toyota Material Handling drives down costs with new diesel engines

Toyota Material Handling introduces a new optimised Toyota Tonero diesel engine with 8% improved fuel efficiency and lower CO2. The Toyota Tonero range of diesel counterbalance forklift trucks with capacities from 1.5 tonne to 3.5 tonne now offers an 8%* improved fuel consumption and lower CO2, providing efficient engine solutions for customers.


The improved fuel consumption and lowering of CO2 has been achieved on the proven Toyota designed and manufactured 1DZIII industrial diesel engine, specifically designed for forklift trucks. This 36kW diesel engine has been optimised for fuel efficiency with the integration of a new fuel injection pump regulating fuel in the combustion process. This engine also complies with the latest 97/68/EC emissions regulations**.



The new engine is available in all models within the Toyota Tonero diesel

range from 1.5 to 3.5 tonne lifting capacities. Dave Rylance, Counterbalance Product Manager for Toyota Material Handling UK explains:

With sustainability as a fundamental value of the Toyota Tonero's design,

these trucks are designed and manufactured to be up to 99% recyclable at

end-of-life in Toyota's ISO 14001-certified plant in Ancenis, France.
