Toyota UK extends contract with Street CraneXpress

Street CraneXpress, part of Sheffield-based SCX Group, has secured an extension to three major preventative maintenance contracts with Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK) Limited.

The confirmation from Toyota UK will mean that SCX will continue to carry out routine maintenance of heavy lifting and handling equipment for around half of the Burnaston site in Derbyshire, which covers Press Shop, Assembly area, and Plastics.

Street CraneXpress was originally awarded the contract for half the 580 acre Burnaston site in 2011, after demonstrating its expertise in planned maintenance programmes. Toyota's Burnaston Vehicle Production facility manufactures the Avensis - 4 door and estate, Auris - 5 door liftback and Auris Hybrid Synergy Drive.

Street CraneXpress' maintenance programme for the Burnaston press shop covers a large number of individual pieces of equipment, including several heavy duty 30 tonne Street overhead cranes. The company also carries out condition based monitoring on the cranes, which comprises Oil sampling and Vibration Monitoring, complete with detailed analysis.

Within the Assembly area, Street CraneXpress engineers carry out routine maintenance on a large number of overhead cranes, pneumatic handlers, vehicle lifts and various production line assets. The programme also covers specific bespoke equipment, including engine and gearbox manipulators.

The company's engineers carry out routine maintenance on a number of pieces of equipment within the Plastics section, including Street overhead cranes.

Street CraneXpress' highly skilled team of engineers have ensured that all repairs and new installations at Toyota have been carried out smoothly and efficiently, without disrupting vehicle production.

"We are delighted that Toyota has taken the decision to continue using our services on the three major contracts," said Simon Eastwood, Managing Director of SCX Group. "Our planned preventative maintenance programmes are being used by an increasing number of internationally renowned manufacturers and house-hold names, who see the benefits of less down-time, better safety and improved efficiencies as a result of using our skill set as a one stop shop for all their lifting requirements"."

The SCX Group provides a full spectrum of service and product based mechanical handling solutions from specialist lifting equipment and bespoke crane installations, through to crane servicing, planned preventative maintenance, repairs, refurbishment, breakdown and spare parts.
