Tradeteam Chief Praises Staff’s Exceptional Community Spirit

Tradeteam’s Managing Director has praised staff at the drinks distributor for their exceptional commitment to CSR after 12 months of hiking, biking, baking, chatting and running for good causes.

Gavin Murdoch says employees across its 29 UK operating sites had really pulled out all the stops over the last year to ensure that Tradeteam’s fundraising and community work remained at strong levels despite the UK’s testing economic climate.

He said: "In what was a difficult year for many thanks to the recession, Tradeteam workers still managed to raise over £30,000 in 2010, which is a fantastic achievement.

"There is still very much a CSR buzz across the company and people certainly haven’t lost their enthusiasm. We are delighted to see everything from coffee mornings to sponsored bike rides to larger events like the Marie Curie Annual Ladies’ Driving Challenge happening with the same vigour.

"Everyone involved from drivers, dray men and warehouse operatives to office based staff should be extremely proud of their contributions and the boost they will have given thousands of disadvantaged people throughout the country.

"I am astounded by the ongoing commitment of Tradeteam’s staff to raise money for those who require support in someway and wanted to say publicly a very big thank-you to everybody involved.

"The level of dedication and commitment to the challenges our teams take on and to volunteering practices is a shining example not only within the drinks sector, but to any company of how to make a real difference."

Tradeteam’s fundraising and community activities are supported by parent company DHL’s ‘Match It’ programme and by dedicated CSR champions who help organise activities and communicate initiatives company-wide.

National charities to benefit from the funds raised by Tradeteam during 2010 include – Rainbows Hospice for Children, Cancer Research UK and Young People, UNICEF, Help the Heroes, The British Heart Foundation, Children in Need and Marie Curie.

Steve Bedford, Tradeteam’s lead CSR Champion said: "It is heart-warming to see that our workforce is so reactive to those in need. Adventurous walks, marathons, driving challenge competitions, baking cakes – these things all add up to some wonderful achievements.

"My CSR reporting role is not a difficult task at all because of the extraordinary people around Tradeteam who work hard raising money and volunteering their time."
