Trailers secured at whisky plant

Caljan Rite-Hite has supplied a Global Wheel Lok (GWL) wheel restraint to the Scottish bottling and distribution site of famous
whisky brand, Chivas Regal.

The site in Paisley is the main processing plant and bottling facility for the whisky, and employs over 400 people. As a means of improving safety for forklift truck drivers at the site, a GWL was purchased, which prevents the dangers of unplanned vehicle departure.

The GWL can secure trailers with the rear axle up to 4m from the back of the trailer, and with tyres up to 1.12m in diameter. The truck reverses up to the loading dock and the restraint rises over the rear tyre and locks. The truck is then loaded/unloaded whilst securely locked in place. When the loading/unloading has finished, the restraint is unlocked, allowing the vehicle to move off safely.

Peter Syme, Project Manager at the site commented, “We turned to Caljan Rite-Hite as the Global Wheel Lok is already successfully
installed at other sites within the company. The new units ensure that vehicles remain in position during the loading and unloading
operation. They provide improved safety and efficiency, which is in line with our company's pro active approach.”
