Trent Valley Recycling Limited has been trading for the past five year’s within the North East of England under the banner of Tees Valley Recycling Limited who have been offering recycling and waste management solutions to all types of business and commerce.
From the early days Tees Valley concentrated its efforts on recycling automotive materials and post-consumer carpets which were processed through their dedicated facility to produce arena and ménage surfaces which were sold throughout the UK. As the business grew so did their portfolio and the company moved into recycling and shredding wood and turning this material into equine products. Tim Barry (Managing Director) said “Having a clear focus and understanding of the needs to recycle and find alternative outlets for waste products has seen the company now take in materials from all over the UK and process and blend these materials to manufacture specific products for a very niche market to a very high standard.” Following on from this success and looking to support the requirement for raw recyclable materials the business took a new route in the brokering of waste, looking for all types of materials which they could extract value and expand the company’s portfolio of operations.
The decision was made that a central UK location was required to operate as a hub and not only offer waste recycling and treatment technologies but to also provide additional services using the strong name and experience of the company and those people who work alongside the business. “The launch of Trent Valley was a major step in the company’s evolution” said Gavin, “This has now positioned the business to offer a full range of services to all manner of businesses as well as other waste contractors who do not have the processing capabilities or markets to treat and process waste and recyclables.”
Operating on a 6 acre site, Trent Valley Recycling have a fully enclosed licenced waste recycling facility which is able to accept all types of waste for treatment and processing. On site shredders and processing capabilities ensures that they can handle all types of wastes, treating these and moving onto recyclable routes. “We have invested heavily in new equipment which is able to increase our ability to process and treat waste, minimising the time it has to stay within the site.” said Gavin Foulstone (Operations Director) who is responsible for the day to day operation of the site. “Our policy is to recycle waste, process and treat this waste, and move it onto third parties in the shortest possible time. Having stored waste on site is bad practise and to ensure that we conform to all regulatory guidelines we adhere to this policy without exception. Whatever your waste stream we will be able to treat it and find a disposal route for this material. We work with all of our customers to ensure all environmental legislation is satisfied and that their waste is treated and processed in the most cost effective and environmentally friendly way.”
To ensure that all the waste on site is handled effectively Trent Valley Recycling made the decision to invest in new equipment and with a clear understanding of what they wanted, they set about identifying the right machines for the job. Gavin said “Loading height was a big factor in choosing the right machine as we are often required to load high sided vehicles along with normal day to day waste carriers, i.e. roro’s, skip wagons and 8 wheeled tippers.” Gavin called upon local dealer Warwick Ward (machinery) Ltd, whose loading shovel expertise meant they were able to take a CASE 721FXR on heavy duty axles (as standard) and extend the extra reach arms even further. This modification gives ‘Super Reach’ with only marginally reducing the loading capacity of the machine.
One of the most important factors in the decision to buy a CASE wheel loader is the fact that the cooling cube is situated directly behind the cab with an auto reverse fan as standard. This ensures no downtime due to cleaning or overheating. “We looked at JCB, Doosan and CAT as alternatives and none of these machines had this feature.” said Gavin.
On summing up the investment Trent Valley Recycling have made in their new equipment, Gavin said “Cost, reliability and a first class professional service all played a part in the decision to buy CASE via Warwick Ward and with the dealership being ideally located for service and backup along with their long standing relationship with existing customers in the region made them stand out from the other dealers.”
