Troax UK Limited has provided the partitioning system within the new pharmaceutical testing complex at , a leading global provider of drug development and manufacturing services to the international pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Built using Troax's Toledo partitioning, the new unit is located within Patheon's Milton Park development facility in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
This new 1,250 sq metre development facility is a focused unit for early phase development services which aim to bring early phase pharmaceutical projects to clinical trials as quickly as possible. The site includes a fully equipped formulation laboratory, analytical laboratory and areas for the GMP manufacture of Clinical Trial Materials for Phase 1/II trials.
With over 270 customers worldwide, Patheon serves many leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology and speciality pharmaceutical companies so the Company needed a high specification partitioning system to ensure a controlled cleanroom environment for testing clients' pharmaceutical products. To provide this high standard of construction, contractor Alpha Office Interiors specified Troax's Toledo cleanroom partitioning system.
Troax used the modular steel partitioning to create the 300 sq metre cleanroom complex which is sub-divided into a number of smaller test areas. As well as the steel partitioning panels, double glazed Toledo panels have also been incorporated into the design to create a light and airy working environment for staff.
Specially designed for cleanroom applications, the Toledo system is produced in a steel, monobloc construction and uses an inert and non-particle shedding infill finish. To prevent the collection of particles and ensure easy to clean, smooth surfaces, Toledo is coated in powder paint and has a two-line panel junction and flush line double glazing, resulting in minimal ledges, corners and flush surfaces.
Comments Kevin Jackson at Alpha Office Interiors: "We needed a high quality partitioning system to provide the required cleanroom conditions for Patheon's pharmaceutical testing processes. Troax's Toledo system met Patheon's requirements exactly and they are very happy with their new cleanroom complex. We've used Troax's partitioning systems for years so we were confident that their system would match Patheon's demanding criteria."
