Troax's modular steel partitioning systems, Excalibur and Sabre, have been used to create an extensive suite of production facilities, including machine rooms, a spray booth, research areas, rest areas and meeting rooms, at rapid prototyping and tooling company CRDM Limited's new factory in High Wycombe, Bucks.
CRDM offers a wide range of services from the purpose-built 22,000 sq ft facility including metal and plastic sintering, vacuum casting and stereolithography services, as well as rapid manufacturing, rapid tooling, production tooling and moulding.
To create the production facilities in the new factory, contractor Richaire Limited used Troax's double skin steel partitioning system Excalibur, together with the single skin Sabre partitioning system. Because both partitioning systems are modular in design, they offered a convenient way to construct this complex layout of rooms, all with very different functions.
Excalibur double skin partitioning was used to construct the perimeter of the complex of rooms which is located in a noisy production area of the factory. Its double skin design (comprising two steel skins separated by an inert mineral wool insulating infill) made it ideal for the project as it provides a high level of sound and heat insulation. Excalibur's robust construction also makes it very hardwearing and able to withstand the rigours of this busy, industrial environment where fork-lift trucks are in regular operation.
Sabre single skin partitioning provided a cost-effective method of creating internal dividing walls between the series of workshop and production areas which include a spray booth, two clean rooms and a silicon tool room, as well as a finishing area and preparation area, meeting rooms and rest rooms.
A combination of solid steel and glazed panels were used throughout, allowing plenty of light into the area to ensure a pleasant working environment for staff.
