Truckstops, one of the world’s most widely-used routing and scheduling optimization solutions for vehicles and people, is now faster, easier to use and easier to integrate with related hardware and software.
Developed, distributed and supported by Mapmechanics, Truckstops offers exceptional value for multi-drop, multi-route planning, and is equally effective in dynamic day-to-day scheduling and longer-term fixed-route scheduling, delivering greater return on investment.
The new version 20.10 produces highly efficient schedules even more quickly, delivering savings in time and cost. Alternatively, users can run the optimization process for the same length of time as previously, creating an even more highly-optimized solution.
For daily fixed-route scheduling, Truckstops’ matrix file (distances between regular call points) can be "topped up" with extra customer locations without having to be rebuilt, saving time and money.
The map display is much faster, and responds more quickly when drag-and-drop is used to move calls around – particularly helpful for dealing with "not loads" (calls that cannot be scheduled within the setup parameters).
Among over a hundred other enhancements, new layers in the HERE mapping help ensure that routes stand out more clearly on screen, making adjustments easier. When a filtered subset of routes is listed on screen, the map display updates automatically to display just those routes.
It is now quicker and easier to determine which vehicle a stop was allocated to, and find that stop’s position in the route.
Choosing and maintaining setup options is easier – invaluable in strategic analysis – and violation reporting is improved. Users can see more clearly when a truck cannot handle a given task.
New data such as last-minute call requirements can now be added more easily while the solution is still open – saving the time needed for re-optimization.
Integration with external systems is enhanced. Optimized route itineraries can now be emailed directly to drivers’ phones. Tapping a link to a customer location launches Google satellite navigation and provides directions to it.
TranSend has been added to the growing list of ePOD, vehicle tracking and telematics specialists explicitly supported by Truckstops. This integration capability helps future-proof the solution for Truckstops users adopting such systems later.
