Turnkey cable carrier system allows efficient and safe operation of a container crane

A cable carrier from KABELSCHLEPP successfully resolved the problems with a container crane at the terminal of Contargo Rhein-Neckar GmbH in Ludwigshafen.

Several ship-to-shore loading cranes ensure smooth transport of the containers between ships and land at the terminal in Ludwigshafen around the clock. One of the container cranes, or rather the cable carrier used, was no longer capable of meeting the high requirements, though: It required weekly maintenance which meant downtimes and breakdown costs. The cable carrier also produced an extreme noise level.

Contargo started looking for a new cable carrier and decided to work with KABELSCHLEPP. The company in Ludwigshafen was particularly impressed by the proposed significant noise reduction and the well thought out design of the system. KABELSCHLEPP implemented a turnkey system consisting of an MC1300 cable carrier including cable package as well as a guide channel with swiveling covers and climbing protection. The latter provides the desired easy maintenance and good protection against weather influence. The overall package also included project planning and installation.

“We are fully satisfied with the new system and with the cooperation with KABELSCHLEPP,” Andreas Roer, Managing Director of Contargo Rhein-Neckar GmbH, confirms. “The new cable carrier runs very quietly compared to its predecessor. The well thought out housing design also met with all our expectations.”
