UKW will provide insolvency and business recovery services to the freight and haulage industry

Knights & Co, the insolvency and business recovery firm which specialises in the freight and haulage industry, joined UKW – a newly formed insolvency company – on 1st June 2007.

UKW has offices in London, Chichester, Salisbury and Portsmouth – with the UK headquarters in Salisbury.

The company will provide insolvency and business recovery services to the UK, Europe and further afield. Services will include:

Barry Knights, the principal of Knights & Co, joins Simon Underwood and Kevin Weir as Directors of UKW. The trio have more than 60 years experience in dealing with insolvency matters. All three are licensed Insolvency Practitioners holding licenses issued by the Insolvency Practitioners Association.

• Barry Knights is the Founder and Managing Director of Knights & Co. He went into accountancy straight from school and gained his professional experience for a national firm in the City of London. The firm became one of the South's leading regional insolvency and business recovery firms. Knights & Co was a leader in the field of insolvency management within the UK haulage industry – working for a number of blue chip companies.

• London based Simon Underwood, the current President of the Insolvency Practitioners Association, is a Business Recovery and Insolvency specialist. Based in UKW's London office, Simon has over 17 years experience in the corporate recovery and insolvency profession. He has worked on a wide variety of administrations, liquidations and personal insolvency assignments. He has extensive technical and compliance knowledge, gained as Senior Inspector at the Joint Insolvency Monitoring Unit and at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

• Kevin Weir, based on the South Coast, is a former Principal at a national Insolvency Practice. He joined Cork Gully – then the UK's leading firm of insolvency specialists – in 1991 and specialised in recovery management and business turn around. At the beginning of 2000 Kevin helped launch a Southampton and Chichester-based boutique firm of tax and insolvency specialists. In late 2004 Kevin set up a business recovery and insolvency practice for the South Coast arm of a national insolvency practice. He is a qualified tax consultant and a qualified insolvency practitioner.
