Valpak Producer WEEE Scheme receives formal approval

Valpak, the UK's leading provider of compliance and recycling services, is pleased to announce that it has been approved as a WEEE Producer Compliance Scheme. The scheme will be able to offer a full range of services for both B2C and B2B customers.

The new regulations require all producers to register with an approved compliance scheme by 15th March 2007.

Says Director of Marketing, Duncan Simpson, “Businesses wishing to understand the impact of these regulations should contact Valpak. Our dedicated team of Technical Advisors is on hand to answer questions and provide detailed cost forecasts to assist businesses in their budgeting process.”

Valpak has 10 years' experience delivering competitive compliance solutions to over 4,000 businesses in the UK. A recent independent survey showed exceptionally high levels of customer satisfaction across the full range of Valpak's services. Valpak's expertise will be applied to the WEEE regulations, providing customers with cost effective compliance and the assurance that their legal obligations will be met to the highest standards.

“We will offer services to customers large and small, as well as providing support to businesses based in all parts of the UK,” said Simpson. “We are proud of our track record in compliance and are looking forward to expanding our services to existing customers, as well as inviting new businesses to come and join.”

1) Valpak is the UK's largest Producer Responsibility Scheme, meeting the obligations of 4,000 UK businesses under the Packaging Waste Regulations. Under these regulations, businesses are required to invest in recycling through tradable certificates known as Packaging Waste Recovery Notes (PRNs). Revenue from PRNs is reinvested in the UK's recycling and recovery industry. This system of recycling investment is one of the most cost-effective in Europe.

2) The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) is a Producer Responsibility directive aimed at reducing the waste from electrical equipment, increasing recovery and recycling rates of WEEE and improving environmental performance of all operators involved in the life cycle of electrical and electronic equipment. It is estimated that up to 100,000 businesses (25,000 Producers and 75,000 Retailers) will be affected by the legislation.
