Waste management systems manufacturer FAUN Zoeller delivers new RCVs to Perth Kinross

FAUN Zoeller, a leading waste management systems manufacturer – has delivered five new Rotopress refuse collection vehicles (RCV) to Perth and Kinross Council.

The investment in the Rotopress technology has been made by the Scottish authority to make its garden and food waste collection rounds more efficient.

The cylindrical body of the vehicles allows a rotating cone to break up waste during transit allowing a greater volume to be collected with fewer collection rounds and greater fuel efficiency.

The refuse vehicles are also fully sealed which prevents residues or odours escaping from the collected waste.

Perth and Kinross Council collects over three million bins a year and recycles nearly 50 per cent of all waste collected through kerbside and centre recycling services.

Marshall Fleming, UK sales director from FAUN Zoeller said: "The unique rotating feature of the Rotopress makes it one of the most economical RCVs on the market.

"The mechanism is a perfect solution for local authorities looking to improve their recycling services as it aids the composting process of organic material."

David Goodenough, assistant operations manager at Perth and Kinross Council, said: "We specifically sourced the Rotopress vehicles because our garden and food waste collections have increased significantly since the launch of our scheme to help achieve a zero waste society.

"In some areas our drivers have been making three return trips to the recycling centre every collection round and our new RCVs should reduce this to two, cutting our fuel emissions and expenditure."
