Wayne Smith appointed as commercial vehicle account manager at jobco-op automotive

Wayne Smith has been appointed as account manager at motor industry recruitment platform jobco-op automotive.

He has been working in the motor industry since 2007, first as a finance administrator at AvailableCar and then as a warranty advisor at commercial vehicle dealer group Imperial Commercials.

At jobco-op automotive, Wayne will be responsible for guiding dealers through the recruitment process both online and in person, as well as offering support to potential candidates. He will have special responsibility for the commercial vehicle sector.

The company officially opened for business last month and already has 88 dealerships signed up to use its platform and in excess of 6,000 individual curriculum vitas registered.

The jobco-op automotive model is claimed to offer an innovative way to recruit staff of all kinds for dealerships, garages and fast fit centres that will minimise costs while improving quality.

It works by dealers paying a £175 monthly fee and, when they need to fill a role, sifting through the online "talent pool" with the help of an account manager to view candidate details.

Account managers such as Wayne then contact the dealer's preferred candidates, carry out an initial telephone interview based on their criteria, and arrange face-to-face interviews for dealers when appropriate. A fee of as low as one per cent is charged for successful placements. This compares to a typical motor industry recruitment charge of around 10-15% of the candidate's salary.

Wayne said: "The company is getting off to a flying start and it is very exciting to be involved at this early stage."
