When Anite needed to upgrade their building in Slough to provide a more resilient power service and critical cooling provision in the existing data and comms equipment halls they turned to Westway Services for their help in project management and implementation of the various services.
Anite is an international software and solutions company focused on the provision of test & operational systems in the wireless market and reservation & e-commerce solutions to the leisure travel industry and as such has a 24/7 demand on its business services. In addition market growth is leading to a constant demand for improved systems.
The Anite project was a very fast track program that involved installing a new acoustically enclosed diesel generator set, associated cabling and switchgear to provide additional resilience to over 1.2MW of new cooling systems. Due to the business continuity requirements of Anite coupled with working in a live environment, Westway had to carefully plan, identify and manage any potential risks. This was achieved successfully by utilising the project management experience gained with other similar projects over the years. By careful planning Westway were able to bring forward the anticipated completion dates which was highly important to Anite for their business continuity.
Westway Services were also contracted to design, supply and install critical cooling and ventilation systems to a new data hall, which was built within the footprint of the headquarters building. This project was completed ahead of schedule and within budget. Since completing all the installation works Westway have successfully secured the ongoing planned preventative maintenance of all business critical cooling plant and associated services.
The delivery of project completion to budget and ahead of schedule enabled earlier occupation of the data halls by Anite. The replacement of existing critical cooling units has enabled improved energy efficiency.
