Alongside its more familiar products, Wood Auto has unveiled an exciting opportunity for the aftermarket, with the introduction of a comprehensive range of OE quality remanufactured diesel exchange parts, branded with the trusted Wood Auto name.
Diesel should be one of the aftermarket’s fastest growing sectors, but the independent sector has traditionally struggled to benefit proportionately from the ever-increasing diesel vehicle parc. Many diesel vehicles remain in franchised dealer workshops far longer than their petrol counterparts due to a combination of factors, but which include the shortage of specialist exchange parts made available at affordable prices.
The Wood Auto Diesel Exchange Programme will make a significant impact on the availability of these parts by providing a practical and usable service to the independent aftermarket. Remanufactured by sister company Leyland Auto, which is an accredited diesel centre for Bosch, Delphi, Denso and VDO Siemens, the range includes common rail injectors, unit injectors for cars or commercial vehicles, injector pumps, high-pressure pumps and nozzle/holder assemblies.
Wood Auto’s diesel product manager, Chris Wood said: "In order to develop its diesel business and deliver the cost benefits to the motorist that are associated with the independent sector, the workshop must have the support of a reputable diesel supplier that provides a quality product, which is competitively priced and readily available.
"They also need to be able to speak with diesel specialists who are able to provide sound technical support when problems do arise. We remanufacture our diesel products on-site in Preston and so have the expertise on-hand to fully support the programme, which we believe is necessary for the independent to effectively compete with franchised dealer."
"Unlike the market for remanufactured rotating machines or brake callipers, there is currently a limited stock of diesel core available to be remanufactured. Therefore, it is necessary for us to retrieve the old product when a replacement is purchased, otherwise we will need to apply a surcharge to the purchase.
"However, we thought long and hard about how to make our core returns process as customer centric as possible and so to further support our customers, wherever in the UK they are based, we now offer a same day/next day collection service for the old core.
Obviously, as with many other product groups, a comprehensive catalogue to support the programme is vital. Therefore, following its usual formula, Wood Auto has invested considerable time and resource to produce a detailed catalogue to underpin the range.
