Wood is good, It

Timber products have been given the thumbs up by the World Wide Fund for Nature after the international environmental group issued a report urging specifiers and consumers to choose wood rather than plastic.

Leading pallet management company Whirlowdale Trading Company has been involved with the supply of new and reconditioned wooden pallets for over 30 years and has always been a strong believer in the environmental benefits of timber packaging.

Group managing director Andrew Pearce explains: "Customers have recognised that timber pallets are a more environmentally-friendly option, with the reconditioning side of our business growing significantly in recent years. Reconditioned pallets are not just an economical option, but also help companies comply with waste packaging regulations. We are looking forward to working with even more businesses to deliver high quality timber pallets as part of a complete packaging management solution."

Many customers, including some of the UK's leading bakeries, food processors and drinks producers have switched back to using wooden pallets in a bid to reap the benefits of major cost savings. Now this has been officially recognised as an environmentally-friendly solution, Whirlowdale is expecting demand for both new and reconditioned pallets to increase even further.
