Linear Technology, why complicate something so simple?

When designing assemblies, the right components from a wide range of products and suppliers must be combined with one another to ensure optimum functionality of maintenance-free linear guides, for example. Mastering this challenge is effortless with help from MISUMI.

The demand for linear technology components is continuous, multifaceted and covered by catalogues from an average of ten suppliers, according to many special-purpose machinery manufacturers, including Arnold Automatisierungstechnik GmbH.

But since MISUMI has become one of these supplying companies, the number of catalogues required has reduced significantly: "One is enough for us now", says Managing Director, Wolfgang Arnold. The Japanese specialist for standard, purchased and custom parts boasts an unrivalled product range, making product searches and procurement processes much simpler.
What’s more, users receive components that are perfectly adapted to work in harmony — a factor that is particularly important for assemblies such as a linear guide. Even within individual product groups, such as shafts, rings, brackets, linear ball bearings, slide bearings or steel and PTFE bushes, MISUMI offers the widest possible range of variants in terms of design, materials and surface treatments, allowing the ideal component combinations to be selected and configured for specific applications via a tailored approach.

In turn, the number of machine components that need to be manufactured internally or on a contractual basis is reduced, thereby creating cost savings too. For example, when it comes to a 130-mm long linear shaft with a diameter of 8 mm diameter, a saving of 70% can be made compared with the same product from a production plant: Procuring the raw materials costs EUR 7.30, a set-up time of 30 minutes comes in at EUR 28.50 and a production time of 8 minutes amounts to EUR 7.70, giving a total price of EUR 43.50. MISUMI supplies an identical shaft design for just EUR 11.51.
